Services Performed
- Technician scanned codes and ran the vehicle while monitoring scan data and confirmed there is a misfire on cylinder 5. After sitting overnight the misfire is bad enough to cause the CEL to flash. After running for 10 minutes the misfire stops Technician moved the #5 coil to a known good cylinder, misfire did not move. Technician inspected the spark plug and found it to be in good condition. Technician used a bore scope to look down into the cylinder and found nothing out of place. Technician then placed the cooling system under pressure overnight. The next morning the technician used a bore scope to look into the cylinder and found coolant pooled up on top of the piston. This is due to a failed head gasket, unfortunately on these engines the entire cylinder head would likely have to be replaced to properly repair the issue. – Customer was advised and opted to use k-seal to try and stop the leak. We kept it overnight for testing and at the moment the misfire has not returned and there is not coolant on top of the piston.
